June Lockwood

ESSAY BY June Lockwood (second from right) won a computer for her grandson, Joshua Viven-(second from left). Dr. Joseph Barry (center), of Preventive Medicine, sponsored the contest, hua's parents are David (left) and Candy Vivenzio (right).

An essay by area resident June Lockwood won her grandson, Joshua Vivenzio, a new computer system from Preventive Medicine.

Preventive Medicine, a doctors' office in Camillus, recently sponsored an essay contest titled, ''Do a Good Deed."

Dr. Joseph Barry, of Preventive Medicine, said the essay paid tribute to Joshua's care and concern for his grandmother.
Joshua, 12, is a student at Roxboro Road Middle School and lives with his parents, David and Candy Vivenzio, of Matty-dale.

Barry presented the award on Dec. 2. He said he sponsored the contest because he realizes the importance of inspiring young adults to make the right choices in life and because he wanted to recognize the good deeds of people.

' 'More children should be recognized for the good that they do and not the bad,'' said Lock-wood.

Other contestants were awarded gift certificates to Barnes & Noble bookstores.
